Kiera Taussig and Kayla Schmalz each scored two goals for the St. Lawrence University Women's Lacrosse team but SUNY Fredonia used a second half run of five of six goals to pull ahead and post a 10-7 victory Tuesday morning in a non-conference matchup at GT Bray Park in Bradenton, Florida.
Taussig opened the scoring 3:17 into the game for St. Lawrence (2-3) but Fredonia (3-3) scored five of the next seven goals to take a 5-3 lead into the halftime intermission. Alexandra LaMotte and Caroline Bailey scored goals for the Saints.
Abigail Owens opened the second half with a quick goal 1:15 into the period cutting the lead to 5-4 but the Blue Devils rattled off five of the next six goals to pull ahead 10-5 with 11:03 left to play.
Schmalz scored the lone St. Lawrence goal in the stretch. She and Taussig added late goals for the Saints to trim the lead to 10-7 but that was as close as St. Lawrence could come.
Cricket Wemyss started and made two saves before Olga Lukas played the second half making three saves.
The Saints will finish the Spring Training trip Wednesday night with a 7 pm game against Allegheny College in Bradenton, Florida.
