Hannah Miller scored a goal for the second consecutive game, but the sixth-ranked St. Lawrence University women's hockey team was forced to settle for 1-1 tie with Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon in Erie, Pennsylvania.
Miller scored off assists from linemates Kennedy Marchmentand Justine Reyes with less than five minutes to play in the first period, but Mercyhurst's Jennifer MacAskill tied the game about halfway through the second period off assists from Morgan Stacey and CĂ©line Frappier.
"This weekend was a good start to our season," said head coach Chris Wells '92. "Once again, Mercyhurst was relentless all over the ice. We had some great chances especially late in the game and in overtime to win it. Both teams certainly left what they had on the ice sheet today. It was an impressive effort with a short turnaround from last night's game."
Grace Harrison made 19 saves for the Saints while Sarah McDonnell stopped 18 shots for Mercyhurst, which moved to 0-3-1 on the season.
St. Lawrence, now 1-0-1, will be back on the road next weekend for a two-game series with Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.
