Senior Sydney Bell capped off a three-goal second period for St. Lawrence with her first of the year and the eventual game winner to help the Saints to a 3-2 come-from-behind win over Vermont and complete the weekend sweep on Friday night. The Saints are now 2-5-1 on the year, while the Catamounts remain winless at 0-6-0.

Bell's goal followed tallies by first-year Lydia Grauer and senior defenseman Megan Armstrong in the middle frame to erase an early one-goal deficit after the Catamounts Taylor Willard beat netminder Sonjia Shelly with a shot through traffic for the visitor's first goal of the weekend.

Vermont went into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead, but the Saints came out strong in the second and wasted little time finding the equalizer.

At the 4:41 mark of the second, Grauer backhanded a shot through the five hole of UVM goaltender Madison Litchfield to pull St. Lawrence even with Amanda Boulier and Alex Moore assisting on the play.

Just over four minutes later, Hannah Miller played the puck to Kennedy Marchment behind the Catamounts net and Marchment hit Armstrong who was cutting hard into the slot. Armstrong one-timed what turned out to be a knuckle puck; freezing Litchfield as the puck floated over her right shoulder to give St. Lawrence a 2-1 lead.

Nineteen seconds after Armstrong's tally, Bell beat Litchfield with a hard slapshot from the right faceoff dot for the third Saints goal. Moore and Boulier again assisted on the play, as the duo overloaded the left side and drew the defense before Boulier hit a wide open Bell on the far side for the goal.

UVM would add a goal from Dayna Coland six minutes into the third period to pull within one at 3-2, but the Saints were able to maintain their composure and hang on for the win.

Sonjia Shelly finished with 20 saves in the win; the first of her collegiate career, while Litchfield made 26 stops of the Catamounts.

The Saints will play host to Syracuse as part of the team's Alumnae Weekend next Saturday, Oct. 24 with puck drop scheduled for 3:00 p.m.; marking the first time former Saints coach Paul Flanagan has returned to Appleton Arena since leaving to start the Orange women's program in 2008. There will be an alumnae game prior to the nonconference contest starting at 12:00 p.m.
