The St. Lawrence University women's crew team closed out its 2013 season on Sunday, as they travelled to Worcester, MA for the 2013 ECAC Championships.
The Saints needed to post their best performances of the year in order to land a spot in the NCAA Championship field. However, the group would struggle in the heat and landed in the third finals. The boat would finish second in that group behind Smith with a time of 7:06.4, while topping Simmons, Hamilton, Mt. Holyoke and Colby. Ithaca College won the petite final and Williams College won the grand final.
St. Lawrence's second varsity 8+ finished fourth in the petite final with a time of 7:46.4. Tufts earned the win ahead of WPI and Wesleyan, while St. Lawrence edged New Hampshire for fourth and beat Hamilton in open water.
Senior Kelly Greenwood was the coxswain in the varsity 8+, while rowers included Jessica Burdett, Jenette Kloss, Britton Weber, Sally Dankner, Maggie Fellows, Madeline Fones, Heidi Weiss and Karen Blakelock. The second varsity comprised of Yukiko McQueeney, Jennifer Longwell, Alissa McCaffrey, Cadence Trapini, Hannah Durant, Abigail McIvor, Eleanor Jones, Daniela Stokes and Gabrielle Schreffler.
Sunday's race was the last for the Saints' Class of 2013, which includes Burdett, Dankner, Fellows, Fones, Greenwood, McCaffrey, Weber and Ann West.
Trinity edged Williams for the women's point trophy, while Bates, Ithaca and Wellesley rounded out the top-5 of the ECAC Championships.
