The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team fell to Ithaca College in the perennial non-conference meeting by the score of 63-57 in Canton, NY on Saturday afternoon. The victory is the fifth straight for the Bombers over the Saints, who struggled with a 4-for-21 mark from behind the arc.

Ithaca (5-1) was led by a solid double-double from Francesca Cotrupe, who totaled a game-high 15 points and 12 rebounds. The visitors closed with a 50-42 rebounding advantage over St. Lawrence (3-2), which was led by Lauren Quattrocchi's eight points (4-for-8) and three assists. Caroline Dalton had a team-high 10 points and combined with Kara McDuffee for 21 rebounds, but the duo also struggled from the floor with a 7-for-27 mark.

"I'm really disappointed because we played flat and scared and instead of trying to control the tempo and flow of the game, we reacted to their play and let them take it to us," said Saints head coach Dan Roiger. "It's a game I felt was there for the taking but we didn't make enough plays and deserved to lose."

Ithaca finished with a 15-9 edge in points off turnovers despite finishing just 14-of-30 from the free throw stripe.

St. Lawrence came out of the first half fortunate to be down just six after a 1-for-12 shooting performance from behind the arc. Cotrupe's 13 points led the Bombers out to a sizable 12-point lead, but first-year student Jenny Scudder kept St. Lawrence in the game with six points off the bench including four points in the final two minutes to make it a two possession game at the break.

Allison Cady's three at the 4:12 mark of the second half got the home team within a point at 34-33, and the home team would tie the game moments later of a lay-up by McDuffee to level the scoring at 35-35 for the first time since it was 2-2. Ithaca was ready with a response, though, as the Bombers rattled off an 11-0 including two buckets each from Erin Ferguson and Julie Yacovoni to stretch the lead back to 46-35 with 11:50 to play.

The run was enough for the Bombers, as St. Lawrence would not get closer than four points the remainder of the game despite difficulties at the free throw line by the visitors.

St. Lawrence will look to regroup on Tuesday, December 9 when the team travels to SUNY Potsdam. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm.
