Hannah Miller, Kennedy Marchment and Rachael Smith all tallied one goal and one assist as the St. Lawrence University women's hockey team tied Princeton, 4-4, in an ECAC Hockey game at Appleton Arena on Friday night.

Carly Lund led Princeton with two goals and one assist.

The eighth-ranked Saints, who never trailed in the game, moved to 6-4-3 overall, 3-1-1, while the Tigers moved to 2-4-3, 2-4-1.

"It always comes down to the last minute or overtime against Princeton," said head coach Chris Wells '92. "These are always fun games to be involved in. We had some great chances and connected on a few nice goals. We had some good pressure in overtime and had two or three chances to win."

St. Lawrence jumped out to a 1-0 lead five minutes into the game, as Kayla Nielsen found Smith wide open at the right side of the net five minutes into the game, and the junior from Stoney Creek, Ontario, lifted a shot into the top right corner for her fourth goal of the season.

Carly Bullock tied the score less than a minute and a half later, beating St. Lawrence goaltender Sonjia Shelly with a laser from the slot into the top right corner.

Marchment gave the Saints the lead again early in the second period, scoring on a rebound on a shot by Miller. Miller increased the lead to 3-1 halfway through the second, sniping a tough-angle shot from the left side over Princeton goaltender Stephanie Neatby's shoulder for her fifth goal of the year.

The two-goal lead was fleeting, however, as Lund scored her first of the game just 11 seconds later after collecting a rebound right in front of the Saints' net. Seven minutes later, Lund netted her second of the game, tipping in a shot from the point with the Tigers on a power play to send the teams to the locker rooms for the second intermission tied, 3-3.

Justine Reyes gave the Saints another lead just 22 seconds into the third period, taking a pass from Kayla Nielsen right in front of the net and beating Neatby from just outside the crease, but Princeton dominated the scoring chances the rest of the period, outshooting the Saints 11-6. Sarah Verbeek finally cashed in, tipping a pass from Lund in with just 6:13 remaining in regulation to tie the game.

St. Lawrence dominated the overtime period, outshooting Princeton 7-2, but Neatby was perfect to preserve the tie.

St. Lawrence had a 33-31 advantage in shots on goal, with Neatby making 29 saves for Princeton and Shelly stopping 27 for the Saints.

The Saints will host Quinnipiac, a 4-3 overtime winner over Clarkson tonight, on Saturday at 3 p.m.
