The St. Lawrence University women's basketball team defeated Clarkson University, 69-47, in Tuesday's Liberty League contest in the Burkman Gymnasium. Sophomore Kara McDuffee led all scorers with 21 points and 10 rebounds, as the Saints improve to 14-4 and 8-1 in the league. Meanwhile, the Golden Knights were led by Leighann Tomita's 15 points and nine rebounds, but fall to 2-15 and remain winless in the conference.

Joining McDuffee in double figures were first-year student Lauren Quattrocchi and junior co-captain Cassie St. Hilaire who scored 15 and 10 points, respectively. Junior co-captain Hannah Wilson added eight points, seven rebounds and four assists, while first-year student Julia Raue tallied eight points and six rebounds.

St. Lawrence used 16-for-26 shooting (61.5%) in the first half, while limiting Clarkson to just five field goals, to take a 39-17 lead into the locker room. McDuffee and Quattrocchi combined for 22 points in the first half, while Leighann Tomita had 10 of the Knight's 17 points.

Clarkson opened the second half with a 14-7 run to cut its deficit to 12 points on multiple occasions. A three-pointer by Melissa Bogart at 13:29 brought the Golden Knights back to within single digits, 46-37. St. Lawrence, however, outscored its opponent 23-10 for the remainder of the game.

The Saints held advantages in rebounds (44-29) and assists (23-9), and shot 45.9% for the game compared to 29.4% for the Golden Knights.

St. Lawrence will travel to Bard and Vassar for a pair of Liberty League match-ups this weekend.
