Senior Amiee Caligiore continued a string of top ten finishes with an eighth place finish and rookie Claire O'Neil made a solid collegiate debut with an 81, but the Saints had to settle for sixth place in a tough field in the nine-team St. Lawrence Collegiate Invitational at the St. Lawrence University Golf Course on Sunday.

The tournament, originally scheduled for 36 holes, was cut back to a 18 hole event as players were pulled off the course about five holes into Saturday's round when heavy rain and high winds made the course unplayable.

Middlebury College won the team title with a best four of five score total of 314, a tournament single-round team record while Ithaca College finished second with a 321 total. Cortland was third at 325 with William Smith and NYU tying for fourth at 326. The Saints shot 329 with William Smith and Nazareth tied for seventh at 403 and Elmira ninth at 422.

Ithaca's Sharon Li was the individual champion with a round of one-over 73 on the 5846 yard, par 72 course. She shot three over 39 on the front nine, but was two under with a 34 on the back. Kalin Merkley of Cortland, Kristina Shalhoup of NYU and Kara Capstraw of William Smith all tied for second with 75s.

Caligiore led the Saints with a six-over 78 while O'Neil, who started on the back nine, shot a one-over 37 on the front nine to go with a 44 for an 81 total. Sophomore Maddie Moore shot her collegiate best with a 42-39 for 81, tying O'Neil for 13th overall while senior Kelly Hale shot 46-43-89 and junior Kerrin Ehrensbeck shot 44-47-91. Taylor Thompson shot 104, Gwen Maurice 108 and Cheyanne Hwang 121 in their first collegiate tournament, playing as individuals for the Saints.

The Saints will play in the NYU Invitational next weekend
