Saints Volleyball wrap up Liberty League play with two wins

The St. Lawrence University volleyball team rebounded from a pair of losses Friday to post two victories on the final day of Liberty League play with wins over Skidmore and Bard Saturday afternoon at Saratoga Springs.

The Saints (12-17 overall, 3-9 Liberty League) came from behind to defeat Skidmore in a thrilling five-set match. The Thoroughbreds won the first two sets by identical scores of 25-19 before St. Lawrence bounced back to take the third set 25-23 and then posted a 25-15 win in the fourth before finishing off the match with a 15-13 win in the tie breaker.

The Saints and the Raptors split the first two sets SLU winning the opener 25-11 and Bard taking the second set 25-23. St. Lawrence finished off the match with wins in the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-16 and 25-19.

Masha Kolesnikova spearheaded the St. Lawrence win over Skidmore with 21 kills, a .378 attack percentage and seven digs while Amanda Teppo chipped in eight kills and six blocks and Katie Kull handed out 43 assists and nine digs. Ally Good and Maddy Bishop had 17 and 12 digs respectively.

In the Bard match, the entire St. Lawrence roster played in the match and contributed to the victory. Mac Barnes, Julia Wagner had eight kills each while Maddy Ruehl and Marissa Parker added seven kills each. Kull led the team with 23 assists and Bishop had 11 assists as well. Kolesnikova served three aces and Jenna Britton led the team with 10 digs. Elle Gray and Good added nine digs each for the Saints.

St. Lawrence finishes up the regular season with a midweek match against SUNY Potsdam Wednesday before traveling to SUNY Brockport for a season-ending tournament with matches against Allegheny, St. John Fisher and SUNY Fredonia next weekend.
