Saint's Turner has record setting day at NYSCTC Championship

St. Lawrence University senior Marisa Turner moved into a tie for second nationally in the high jump and matched her own SLU outdoor record as one of three Saint individual champions at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Outdoor Championships at RPI on Saturday.

Other Saturday champions for the Saints were Elina Breton in the 800, running 2:13.96, an improvement on her own SLU record and Lisa Grohn, who won the 5000 meters in 17:24.76.

The Saints finished third as a team, trailing Ithaca, which won with 195.5 points, and Rochester, which was second with 185.5. SLU scored 130.5 with RPI fourth at 107.5 in a 13-team field.

Grohn added a second place finish in 4:34.18 in the 1500 meters with Megan Kellogg third and Kellog was fifth in the 800. Lennon finished second in 64.05 and Jacqui Ebeling was fifth in the 400 hurdles while Allison Scarf scored with a seventh place finish in the 100 hurdles and Asanya was fourth and Mason seventh in the 100 meter dash.

In field event competition, Meghann Wood was sixth in the shot put with a 12.23 meter throw, Morgan Rosser was ninth and Scarf tenth in the triple jump, Grace Kelly finished 11th in the high jump and Leah Conners was 16th in the discus.

The Saints will compete at St. John Fisher next weekend.
