Senior Jason Conde pitched a four-hit shutout in game one and catcher Matt D'Auteuil ignited a six-run sixth inning in game two with a leadoff home run as St. Lawrence University's baseball team snapped a six game losing streak with a 4-0, 12-5 doubleheader sweep of Liberty League rival RIT at Tom Fay Field Saturday afternoon.

The Saint defense backed the Saint pitching with seven double plays in the two games as SLU improves to 21-10 overall and 14-7 in league play. They will host the Tigers, now 12-21, 7-15 in another doubleheader starting at noon on Sunday.

Conde walked four and struck out four on a chilly afternoon for his fifth win of the season and first shutout. Rit threatened in the fifth with a pair of walks to start the inning, but Conde got the first out with a strikeout and after a single loaded the bases, the Saints turned a double play to end the inning. RIT loaded the bases again in the sixth with one out, but Conde induced a come-backer and started another double play to end the inning.

The Saints scored single runs in the bottom of the second and third and tacked on two in the bottom of the fifth for all the scoring Conde was to need. Jeff Kott singled in the bottom of the second, went to third on Brian Magovney's double and scored on D'Auteuil's ground out. Ethan Braddock singled and went to second on an error, moved to third on Bryan Palermo's infield hit and scored on Khifer O'Connor's sacrifice fly in the third and Palermo singled, was sacrificed to second by Carter Franz and scored on O'Connor's single to second with O'Connor later scoring on Kott's double to complete the scoring in the fifth.

RIT jumped out to a 5-0 lead against Saint starter Matt Skelly in game two, but the Saints battled back to give Skelly his fifth straight win as he settled down after giving up five runs on six hits through four. Skelly allowed only two hits over his last three innings of work to improve to 5-0 on the season.

Brian Brazee singled to lead off the second and scored on C.J. Bolorin's two out single and Brazee hit a two run double and Jon Meyer doubled him home for three in the third. Bolorin walked and scored on an outfield error for the fourth RIT run in the top of the fourth.

The Saints started their comeback with two in the bottom of the fourth off starter Chris Dickinson. Matt DeLuca walked with two out, Magovney singled and both runners moved up a base on an outfield error and D'Auteuil delivered a two-run double. SLU added two more in the bottom of the fifth as Palermo led off with a double and scored on Kott's two out single. Kott then scored on Paul Piatelli's double down the right field line.

D'Auteuil hit his second homer of the season over the left field fence to start the bottom of the sixth against reliever Brad Wright to tie the game at 5-5 and the Saints batted around to take a10-5 lead. O'Connor hit a rund scoring double, Piatelli hit a single to second for another run and DeLuca singled in two more with Piatelli scoring on an error on the throw to the plate.

The Saints added two more in the seventh as Braddock singled and went to second on an outfield error. Palermo then reached on an error with Braddock scoring on the errant throw and O'Connor hit a sacrifice fly to plate Palermo with the final Saint run.

Piatelli was four for five with two runs driven in and Palermo had three hits in five trips in game two. Chris Kellogg pitched two innings of scoreless relief to finish it out for Skelly.
