Jeff Kott delivered a one-out single to center to drive in Ethan Braddock in the bottom of the ninth inning to give St. Lawrence a 4-3 win over the University of Rochester Sunday as the Saints took two out of three games from the Yellowjackets in a Liberty League series.
Game two of Sunday's scheduled doubleheader was rained out.
Rookie Andrew Schreyack earned the win on the mound with one inning of scoreless relief. Joe Riley started and went five plus innings surrendering two runs, one earned and Kyle Donaldson and Andrew Weitzel carried the Saints to the ninth.
Braddock was hit by a pitch to lead off the bottom of the ninth, Brian Palermo walked and with one out Khifer O'Connor walked to load the bases. Kott then singled to left center to score Braddock with the winning run as the Saints improved to 11-4 overall and 5-2 in league play.
Rochester scored a run in the top of the first, but the Saints scored single runs in the bottom of the second, third and fourth to take a 3-1 lead.
Matt DeLuca singled, advanced on Matt D'Auteiul's single and scored on Braddock's sacrifice fly in the second. Palermo doubled and scored on Kott's single in the third and Brian Magovney singled and scored on D'Auteiul's double in the fourth.
Rochester scored single runs in the top of the sixth and seventh getting an unearned run off Riley in the sixth and scoring on a trio of singles off Donaldson in the seventh. Weitzel pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless ball and Schreyack kept Rochester at bay in the top of the ninth with Kott's single making him the winner in the bottom of the inning.
