Saint's Stine, Biswal, Martin are Liberty League Indoor Track award winners

St. Lawrence University sophomores Carly Stine and Divya Biswal were joined by first year teammate Ella Martin in sweeping the 2012-13 Liberty League Indoor Track and Field Awards as announced by the league on Wednesday.

Stine was named the co-winner of the Track Performer of the Year award while Biswal was the Field Performer of the Year and Martin was named Rookie of the Year. Kate Curran and her SLU coaching staff was named the Women's Track and Field Coaching Staff of the Year.

Stine won the 400 meters at the Liberty League Championship, was NYSCTC Champion in the 500, shattering a 11-year old SLU record in that event and anchored the NYSCTC champion 4x400 relay team. She also ran on the Distance Medley Relay team for the Saints and was part of SLU record setting teams in both the 4x400 and the DMR during her sophomore season. She was 2012 Liberty League Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year.

Biswal was the Liberty League championship meet field performer of the year after winning three individual events and running on the champion 4x200 relay team. She set Liberty League records in the 60 hurdles and triple jump and also won the long jump. She was NYSCTC and ECAC triple jump champion and earned All America honors with a third place finish in the triple jump at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.

Martin, the Liberty League Rookie of the Year in cross country in the fall, earned her second straight Rookie of the Year honor was she was the Liberty League and NYSCTC meet outstanding rookie and turned in a dominating performance in the distance events. She set the Liberty League records in both the mile and 5000 and won the NYSCTC 3000 and was second in the mile. She also anchored the Saint record-setting Distance Medley Relay team. She earned All America honors in the 5000 meters at the NCAA Division III Championships.

Curran and her staff won Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year honors for the third straight season after winning the Liberty League indoor title, finishing second in the NYSCTC championships and qualifying three for the NCAA championships with two of the three athletes turning in All America performances. Joining Curran on the Saint women's staff are Director of Cross Country and Track and FIeld Mike Howard, John Newman, Ozzie Brown, Kelly Curtis and Deshaya Williams.
