Sophomore Emmett Dunn pitched a complete game and helped the St. Lawrence baseball team to a 4-2 win over Clarkson in the second game of a Liberty League doubleheader on Tom Fay Field in Canton, New York. Clarkson won the first game 8-1.

Dunn allowed just two runs on seven hits and held the Golden Knights scoreless until the top of the ninth inning. He finished with three strikeouts and just one walk to improve to 3-0.

With the split, the Saints improve to 9-12 overall and 7-5 in Liberty League play, while Clarkson sits at 13-14 with a 10-6 record in conference games.

Game 1

Clarkson's Joe Fraser hit a two-run single in the first inning, Brad Pearson notched an RBI double in the second and Cam Bando homered to left in the third for the visiting Golden Knights for a 4-0 advantage through the first three innings.

After Clarkson added another in the top of the fifth, the Saints answered with a run of their own in the bottom of the frame to spoil Ted Wilson's shutout bit.

Mic Regan worked a walk and Taylor Digilio singled through the right side to put two runners on with two outs for sophomore Jeremy Gerringer. Gerringer dropped a bloop single into shallow right field to score Regan and cut the deficit to 5-1, but that would be all the Saints would get against Wilson. Clarkson added three more runs in the top of the sixth for the eventual 8-1 margin.

Wilson allowed one run on four hits with six strikeouts in the complete-game seven-inning win for the Golden Knights to improve to 4-0 on the year.

The Saints' starter, Sam Downes threw five innings and allowed five runs on seven hits with one strikeout and three walks. Reliever Matt Phelan allowed three runs on two hits in an inning of work, while Charlie Pacilio threw a scoreless seventh.

Gerringer, Digilio, Devin Robson and Anthony Butler finished with hits for St. Lawrence.

Game 2 –

After three scoreless innings, first-year Brendon Frank hit a two-run single to left in the bottom of the fourth to give St. Lawrence a 2-0 lead in the nightcap.

Frank stepped into the batter's box with the bases loaded and two out after Butler was hit by a pitch an Erik Larsen and Evan O'Keeffe hit back-to-back singles. The Gansevoort, New York native singled to left, but was thrown out at second trying to stretch it to a double to end the inning.

In the bottom of the fifth, Michael LeFevre scored on a sacrifice fly to deep right field by Robson to extended the Saints lead to 3-0.

Robson also drove in the Saints fourth run with an RBI double to right that plated Frank in the bottom of the seventh.

Clarkson put together a two out rally in the top of the ninth with back-to-back doubles from Fraser and Bando to cut the deficit in half, but Dunn struck out pinch-hitter Vincent Granuzzo, swinging, to end the game.

Frank finished 3-for-5 at the plate in game two for St. Lawrence with two RBI. O'Keeffe was 2-for-4, while Robson went 1-for-2 with two RBI as well.

The Saints will travel to Potsdam to complete the four-game set with Clarkson on Sunday afternoon. Game one is scheduled for 12 p.m.
