Four different members of the St. Lawrence University men's soccer team scored as the Saints shut out Rhode Island College 4-0 on day two of the SUNY Oneonta Tournament in Oneonta, New York.
Stephen Dorney scored his first goal of the season off the restart and a pass from senior Rob Brandell. Brandell lofted a pass to Dorney, who was able to head the ball past goalkeeper Charlie Tashijan.
The Saints second goal came during the 36th minute when Kelly put the second header of the game in the back of the net. Kelly was assisted by Jevaughn Sinclair and James Nicolas.
With momentum on their side after the break the Saints tallied two more goals for their first win of the season. Tapshak Augustine fed Brendan McNamee a pass into the box, which McNamee chipped over Tashijan for his third goal of the season.
Sinclair tallied his first goal of the season and the Saints' final goal in the 78th minute. He was assisted by Jethro Dede.
Dennis Vazquesz, Komla Dogbey and Jeramy Almeida each had one shot on goal for Rhode Island.
Tashijan and Saints' goalkeeper Mike Smith both finished the game with three saves.
Dede and Ryan Roche were named to the Oneonta All-Tournament Team.
The Saints now sit 1-2-1 on the season, while Rhode Island fell to 0-3-1 overall.
St. Lawrence will travel to SUNY Oswego and SUNY Cortland next weekend before opening up Liberty League play against Union on September 23rd.
