Freshman Jamal Samaroo set the St. Lawrence record in the triple jump and sophomores Taylor Macci, Brian Kane and Jake Fredericks and seniors Jack Knych and Jarell Roberts had top ten performances at the ECAC Indoor Championships at the Armory in New York City.
Samaroo jumped 14.32 meters (46-11.75) to eclipse the previous mark of 14.18 meters set by Mike O'Neil in 1985. It was the longest standing indoor field record for the Saint men's program. Samaroo placed fourth in the event and later added a 23rd place finish in the long jump with a 6.47 meter leap.
St. Lawrence was 21st in the 62-team field with 16.25 points.
Knych was sixth in 1:54.65 in the 800 meters, Roberts was seventh in the 200 in 22.49, Macci was seventh in the 500 in 1:06.00, Kane tied for fifth in the high jump at 1.92 meters and Fredericks finished 10th in the 60 hurdles.
Roberts also finished 21st in the 60 meters with a 7.11 clocking and ran on the 4x200 meter relay team which was sixth in 1:30.68. He was joined on the relay by Samaroo, Andy Fisher and Adam McNichol.AJ Blaisdell finished 14th in the weight throw and Justin Spalik was ninth in the heptathlon.
The Saint Distance Medley Relay team of Spencer Fausel, James May, Jon Eng and Scott Smolensky ran 10;18.86 and finished 13th. The 4x800 relay of Fausel, Corey Hahnl, Tom Metzger and Eng ran 7:55.47 and finished 11th.
