St. Lawrence University's riding team earned its fifth and sixth victories of the year and expanded its lead on second place Cazenovia in the race for yet another high point team title, sweeping a pair of horse shows at the Elsa Gunnison Appleton Riding Hall Saturday and Sunday.

The Saints won Saturday's show with a total of 41 points with Cazenovia second with 36 and Geneseo third with 28. The Saints scored 39 points on Sunday with Cazenovia second with 31 and Ottawa third with 28 and complete the fall portion of the schedule with a 22 point lead on Cazenovia with two shows to go in February.

While the Saint team added to its lead in the race for high point team, Saint senior Emily D'Alessandro added to her lead in the pursuit of regional high point rider honors. D'Alessandro won both open over fences and open on the flat on Saturday to take high point rider honors and was first over fences and second on the flat Sunday, winning a five-rider ride-off to take high point rider honors for the fourth time in six shows.

Other Saint winners in Saturday's show were Morgan Oakes, who was first in intermediate Anna Haron, who each won novice flat classes.

Haron was also second in novice fences while Hannah Chute and Mackenzie Alderman were second in intermediate on the flat, Julia Robinson was second in walk-trot-canter and Siv Saati was second in walk-trot.

Fortier joined D'Alessandro in the high point rider ride-off on Sunday as he was second in open over fences and first in intermediate on the flat. Emily Noble was first in intermediate fences with Naomi Feguine winning in novice fences. Oakes added a second in intermediate fences.

Segrave won her class of novice flat with Sheila Murray second while Amelia Heroux won in walk-trot-canter and Saati won in walk-trot.

The two shows also featured alumni competition for the first time in several years at a home show and former Saint national champion Casey Zuraitis '13 had a perfect weekend, winning fences and flat competition in both shows.

The Saints are now idle until shows at Cazenovia Feb. 21 and home on Feb. 22nd to lead up to the regional championships.
