St. Lawrence University's baseball team rallied for a 4-3 victory over the University of Rochester with three in the bottom of the seventh inning of game one of a Liberty League doubleheader and completed the sweep with a seven-run sixth and a complete game pitching effort by Andrew Schreyack in a 8-1 game two victory.

The Saints improve to 15-13 overall and 9-9 in league play while Rochester is 15-18, 9-11 heading into another doubleheader at Tom Fay Field on Sunday.

While he gave up 13 hits in game one, Saint junior pitcher Joe Riley allowed just one earned run and improved to 6-1 on the season as the Saints pulled out the win in the bottom of the final inning.

The Saints took a lead in the bottom of the third as Bryan Palmero singled with two out and scored on Carter Franz' double to left. Rochester came right back to tie it in the top of the fourth as Dan Warren led off with a single, went to second on a wild pitch and to third on a sacrifice bunt. He scored on Sam Slutsky's two out single.

Rochester went on top with two in the top of the sixth, combining a single, an error on a sacrifice bunt, a sacrifice fly by Chris Davis and Slutsky's two-out run-scoring double for two unearned runs. The Saints came back in the seventh as Ethan Braddock led off by reaching on an error. Mark Syron was hit by a pitch and Palermo reached on a bunt single. Franz drew a walk to score one run, Jeff Kott's sharp grounder was mishandled to allow the second run to score and Paul Piatelli hit a sacrifice fly to left to score the winning run.

Slutsky went three for four with two runs driven in and Josh Ludwig and Nolan Schultz had two hits each for Rochester. Palermo had two of the Saints' six hits off a trio of Rochester pitchers. Jeremy Diller took the loss in relief for the Yellowjackets.

Schreyack and Rochester starter Stephen Cool sailed through the first four innings before the Saints broke through for a run in the bottom of the fifth on a single by Khifer O'Connor, a ground out and Brian Magovney's run-scoring base hit.

Rochester threatened in the top of the sixth with three straight singles, but Schreyack worked out of the jam without giving up a run and the Saints opened it up, batting around in the bottom of the inning to make it an 8-1 game. Syron's single started things with one out and a single by Palermo and a base hit to right by Franz plated the first run. O'Connor then singled to load the bases and Jeff Kott delivered a two-run double to left. Piatelli, and Magoveny hit back-to-back singles to score two more runs and Matt DeLuca reached on catcher's interference to re-load the bases. Braddock was hit by a pitch to force in a run and after a strikeout, Palmero was hit by a pitch to bring home the seventh run.

Rochester scored its run in the top of the eighth as Schultz and Nick Carlson singled and Steve Eychner doubled home Schultz, but Schreyack got out of the inning with two ground ball outs and wrapped it up with three more groundouts in the top of the ninth.

Schreyack improves to 3-4 on the season, striking out four with no walks, while Cool took the loss for Rochester. Nate Mulberg was three for four for the Yellowjackets while Magoveney went three for four and made a great diving catch in the outfield for the Saints and four other SLU players had two-hit games.
