The St. Lawrence University volleyball team competed in a Liberty League crossover weekend at Skidmore and Union, with the Saints closing with a 1-3 record. The Scarlet and Brown swept Bard, but fell to Skidmore (3-0), Vassar (3-1) and Union (3-1).

St. Lawrence is now 6-15 (2-6) on the season. The Saints split on Saturday, downing Bard 25-10, 25-23, 25-16 before falling to Skidmore 25-12, 25-15, 25-21. The split followed a Friday that included 3-1 losses to Union (25-10, 25-27, 26-24, 25-13) and Vassar (20-25, 25-9, 25-17, 25-19).

"Skidmore is an excellent team with great ball control and a tough middle attack all six rotations," said St. Lawrence head coach Shelly Roiger. "We were a bit sluggish in the first two sets, but the third was one of our best of the season. We had some great digs that gave our front row opportunities to finish."

First-year student Lexi Brown had a solid weekend, including three matches with double-digits in kills. The Sayville, NY native hit .455 and .435 against Bard and Skidmore, respectively. Meanwhile, junior co-captain Katie Prue led the team's defense including a 22-dig effort against Union and 14 digs and three aces against Bard. Sophomore co-captain Jenna Street also added 12 assists and 10 digs against Skidmore and 22 assists against the Dutchwomen.

"Our first set against Vassar was perhaps our best of the year. We played with confidence, energy and everyone contributed," added Coach Roiger. "However, we got off to a rough start in set two and even though we battled, our efforts were inconsistent. The Union match was full of unforced errors and they did a good job of constantly putting pressure on us."

St. Lawrence will be in action again on Tuesday in a non-conference match with Potsdam State in Potsdam, NY at 7:00pm.
