Saint's Patterson Is Liberty League Indoor Track Rookie of the Year

St. Lawrence University middle distance standout Spencer Patterson has been named Liberty League Indoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year after an outstanding freshman season in his first year of intercollegiate indoor track.

Patterson, who was also the Liberty League Cross Country Rookie of the Year, was named the outstanding track performer at the 2013 Liberty League Indoor Championship after winning the mile in 4:17.29 and the 800 in 1:58.84 for an impressive double.

Patterson was second in the mile at the NYSCTC championship and ran the 1600 meter leg on the Saint Distance Medley Relay team. A consistent scorer in the mile, he improved his time by over 15 seconds in the course of the season and was the Denault Invitational Champion in that event at Cornell. He also ran on the Saint 4x800 relay team in addition to competing in the DMR.
