Saint's O'Neil wins another women's golf Liberty League title

St. Lawrence University sophomore Claire O'Neil followed an opening round of 76 with an 84 at the Crumpin-Fox Club in Bernardston, MA and held off Mount Holyoke's Madi Mendiola to win individual honors in the 2014 Liberty League Women's Golf Championship.

O'Neil finished with a two-round total of 160, 16 over par on the 5452 yard course and won the Liberty League individual title for the second straight season. Mendiola finished one stroke back at 161.

The Saints finished third as a team in the seven-team field, finishing with a 714 total. Mount Holyoke won with 672 with NYU second with 693. Wellesley was fourth with 747 followed by Vassar with 754, William Smith with 796 and Union with 946.

Augusta Mayer was the second Saint scorer with a tie for 12th at 182 after back-to-back 91 totals for 182. Laura Gay shot 87 on Sunday and climbed into a tie for 12th, also at 182 and Kelly Hale shot 92 to finish at 190 and in 22nd place to complete the Saint scoring. Lexie Haehl shot 93 and was 26th to complete the Saint top five.

The Saints concluded the spring portion of their schedule with the Liberty League Championships.
