The St. Lawrence University men's crew team had a solid showing at the Liberty League Championships on Saturday in Saratoga Springs, NY. Highlighting the day were first place finishes in the Novice 8+ and Varsity 4+ events.
The Saints novice 8 of Mitch Joseph, Mason Vogt, Kyle Benzing, Ted Marr, Matt Farina, Gordon Clarke, Tommy Joyce, Talon Lomahquahu and Drew Twitchell negotiated the 2000 meter Fish Creek course in 6:50.70, almost five second faster than second place Union (6:55.17). Skidmore followed in third place (7:21.23).
The varsity 4 of Audrey Strasenburgh, Thad Sipe, Evan Pierce, Andy Caswell and Michael Brewer crossed the finish line in 8:04.90 with Skidmore over 50 seconds back (8:57.15).
The Saints also competed in the novice 4 event. Joseph, Vogt, Benzing, George Alberts and Luke Steelman finished third with RIT and Hobart earning first and second place.
St. Lawrence will be back in action on May 5-6 when the Saints compete in the New York State Championships in Whitney Point.
