Injuries to key athletes hurt St. Lawrence University's 2014 men's track team at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference Outdoor Championships at St. John Fisher College on Saturday as the Saints had to settle for an eighth place finish in the 13-team field.
RPI beat Rochester by 20 points for the team title with the Saints finishing with 50 in the two-day competition.
Freshman Joe Smith had the top finish of the day on Saturday as he was third in the 1500 meters in 3:57.78. Scott Kasson finished fifth in the discus with a 40.50 meter throw and was sixth in the shot at 13.66 meters.
Omaru Kabia was fifth in the 100 in 11.17 with Shawn Lillie eighth while Dennis Korir scored with a sixth in the 800 in 1:56.63 and Brian Kane finished seventh in the high jump at 1.93 meters.
The Saint 4x400 relay of Evan Garvey, Dan Viscardi, Korir and Harrison Sloan was sixth in 3:26.41.
The Saints will run at the Oneonta Invitational on May 10.
