Robert Schmitz and Kevin Frommer both battled back from first-set losses to earn three-set victories in singles at No. 4 and No.5, respectively, and help the Saints to an 8-1 over Luther College on Wednesday afternoon in Florida. Luther was ranked 15th in the central region by the ITA heading into the match.

The Saints swept singles competition Wednesday afternoon, with three of the six matches requiring a third set.

After dropping the first set in a tiebreak 6-7 (4-7), Schmitz won the next two 6-3 and 10-6 for one of the Saints wins in the singles, while Frommer recovered from a 5-7 loss in the first and also won 6-3 and 10-6 to close it out.

Dean Sponholz was the other to go three on Wednesday, winning 6-2, 3-6, 10-5.

In doubles Tom Luchars and Elliot Solandt won 8-3 at No. 2 over Luther's Quinn Foley and Isaiah Mayerchak, while Rhonny Rosario and Paul Barrett claimed a hard-fought victory at No. 3, 9-8 (8-7) over Trent Schneider and Sam Buffington.

St. Lawrence is now 6-3 in dual matches this season and will finish its spring training schedule with a match against Grinnell on March 19 at 11:30 am.
