The St. Lawrence University swimming and diving teams battled the Nazareth Golden Flyers Saturday in the Augsbury Natatorium. The men came away with the 143-75 victory behind senior Jared Pellerin's three first-place finishes, but the women could not overcome the strong Nazareth women's team, falling 92-141.
"It was a really great weekend for both the men and the women," said Head Coach Bob Clemmer. "The men in particular swam very well yesterday, and were able to step it up that much more today against Nazareth."
Men 143-75
Pellerin led the Saints to victory, posting three first-place finishes in the 200 free (1:53.38), the 200 butterfly (2:09.38) and the 500 free (5:09.80). Classmate Rob Sibley and sophomore Jason Dutra were both two-time victors in the win over Nazareth. Sibley won the 100 free (51.13) and the 200 breaststroke (2:24.25), while Dutra won the 50 free (23.18) and the 200 backstroke (2:07.52).
Sibley and Dutra, along with junior Andrew Hayes and first-year student Luke Peleggi took home the 200 Medley Relay with the time of 1:43.70.
Women 141-92
Sophomore Casey Abribat led Saints women's team in its effort, winning the 200 IM (2:19.04) and the 200 butterfly (2:23.04). Junior Chasity Barcomb also recorded wins in both the 1 meter (152.35) and the 3 meter dives (187.00) for the Saints.
The Saints will be back in action on November 13th when they travel to RIT to take on the Tigers. The meet is scheduled to start at 1:00pm.
