First-year student James Wilczewski led the St. Lawrence men's swim and dive team on day one of the UNYSCSA Championship meet at Ithaca College with a second-place finish in the three meter dive. As a team, the Saints currently sit in seventh heading in to day two.
In his first state meet, Wilczewski made his way onto the podium with a score of 516.95 in the finals round, finishing more than 50 points ahead of the third-place diver from Union. Fellow first-year student and diver, Alex Blake, finished seventh with a final score of 384.90.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Grant Reeder, Henry McCormick, Matt Bauer and Kirby Kaylor placed 13th with a time of 1:48.31, after qualifying 24th in 1:49.69 in the preliminary heats Wednesday morning.
The Saints men have a team total of 93 points heading into day two. Preliminary trials for the 200 free relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 400 medley relay and the women's one meter dive will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday. Finals are scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast live at http://www.livestream.com/ithacabombers .
