St. Lawrence University's men's squash team matched the program record for victories and established a program record for winning percentage as it finished the regular season with a 8-1 victory at Franklin and Marshall and a 13-1 regular season record.
The Saints, ranked second nationally, snapped a six-match win streak by the Diplomats, who upset third-ranked Rochester on Saturday. The Saints needed extra games in eight of the nine matches on Sunday, but won all but one of those matches en route the victory.
The freshman trio of Edgar Zayas, Ahmed Bayoumy and Hussien Elrayes were winners at one, two and three for the third straight match that they have played in the top three spots. Zayas beat Abhishek Pradham 7-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-2, Bayoumy was a 11-7, 10-12, 11-8, 5-11, 11-7 winner over Cole Osborne and Elrayes beat Dylan Cunningham in the only match in the nine to go in straight games, 11-4, 11-8, 11-8.
Seniors Anderson Good and Duncan Maxwell won at four and five with Good beating Alex Arjoon 11-8, 7-11, 11-7, 11-5 and Maxwell a 11-7, 11-5, 9-11, 11-7 winner over Pedro Veiga de Almeida.
The Diplomat's Brian Henry rallied from two down to beat Lockie Munro 9-11, 2-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 at six, but the Saints took the rest of the matches for the team win. Chris Fernandez beat Michael Sorochev 11-6, 12-14, 11-1, 11-9 at seven, Sebastian Riedelsheimer beat Kareem Mawla 13-11, 11-5, 5-11, 8-11, 11-7 at eight and Tim Lasusa beat Gavan Hitchenor 8-11, 14-12, 11-9, 11-6 at nine. F&M's Chris Bown beat Seetreon Torres, 11-5, 11-6, 11-2 in the exhibition match at ten.
