Saints men's squash team pick up big win at Middlebury, 6-3

St. Lawrence University's men's squash team turned back 11th-ranked Middlebury 6-3 on Sunday and will await seeding for the upcoming College Squash Association team nationals at Princeton.

The Saints, who went into Sunday's match ranked 14th nationally, finished the dual match portion of their schedule with a 10-6 overall mark, hitting double digits in victories for the seventh consecutive year. The win over Middlebury could impact the seeds for the Hoehn Cup as Middlebury had beaten 12th ranked Navy which in turn had beaten the Saints during the season.

In the Middlebury match, the Saints won matches two through four and sixth through eight for the team victory.

Vir Seth was beaten in a marathon match by Valentin Quan of Middlebury at one, 3-2 as Seth battled back from 2-1 down to force a game five with a 11-7 win in game four before Quan prevailed 11-6.

Kyle Ogilvy won 3-1 at two, losing his first game to Jay Dolan 11-6, but coming back with a trio of close wins, 11-9, 11-9, 12-10 for the match. Ibrahim Khan won his second match of the weekend in straight games, beating Parker Hurst 11-5, 11-5, 11-9 while Chris Fernandez won a very competitive match with Spencer Hurst at four. Fernandez went out to a 2-0 lead with 11-9 and 12-10 wins, Hurst won game three 11-8 before Fernandez prevailed 15-13 in game four.

Cooper Redpath edged the Saints Amay Merchant 12-10, 11-9, 11-8 at five, but the Saints won the next three to put the match away. Will Campo beat William Moore 11-6, 12-10, 11-9, 11-2 at six, Sebastian Riedelsheimer won in straight games 11-5, 11-6, 12-10 over Addison DiSesa at seven and Duncan Maxell won in three, beating Willy Clarke 11-6, 11-5, 11-5 at eight. Middlebury's Chris Ivsin edged Anderson Good 3-1 at nine for the other Middlebury win in the match.

The CSA Team Nationals begin Thursday at Princeton.
