The #8 seed St. Lawrence University men's squash team will appear in the consolation finals of the CSA Championship after upsetting #5 Cornell, 5-4, in New Haven, CT on Saturday. The victory was the Saints' first over the Big Red in program history as St. Lawrence moves to 11-5 on the season. The Scarlet and Brown have earned their highest finish ever in the national tournament and will face either Liberty League foe Rochester or Franklin and Marshall tomorrow at noon.
Leading the way for the Saints with sweeps at the one and two, respectively, were Amr Khaled Khalifa and Ibrahim Khan. Khalifa topped Nicholas Sachvie, 11-5, 11-3, 11-9, and Khan defeated Aditiya Jagtap, 11-2, 11-6, 11-6. Sebastian Riedelsheimer stuck out a 3-1 victory over Arjun Gupta to round out the top three, 11-8, 8-11, 11-8, 11-9.
Vir Seth and Duncan Maxwell earned critical wins at eight and nine, respectively, to push the Saints to the 5-4 victory. Maxwell edged Geoffrey Keating in five games (10-12, 11-6, 13-11, 6-11, 11-7) and Seth earned a 3-1 win over Graham Dietz (11-8, 6-11, 11-2, 11-7).
