Saints men's squash team beats George Washington 7-2

St. Lawrence University's men's squash team improved to 7-4 on the season with a 7-2 win at George Washington University on Thursday.

The Saints, ranked 12th nationally, will host Bates and Western Ontario in matches at the Robie Squash Center on Saturday.

George Washington's Islam El-Fiky and Omar Sobhy edged SLU's Vir Seth and Kyle Ogilvy respectively at one and two, but the Saints won the rest of the matches against GW to finish a lengthy road trip with a 3-2 record.

Several of the Saint wins in the George Washington match went extra games with three going to the full five before being decided.

Ibriham Khan beat Jose Calderon 3-1 at three, as the two split games one and two before Khan closed it out with 12-10 and 11-3 wins. Sebastian Riedelsheimer went five games with former Saint player Adam Pistel, who transferred to George Washington at the end of his sophomore year with Pistel winning games one and two 13-11 and 12-10 before Riedelsheimer came back to win three straight 11-6, 13-11 and 11-6 for the match.

Christopher Fernandez won in three straight against Player Haynes at five, Duncan Maxell came back from two down to beat Sam Ehrlich 3-2 at six, winning game one 13-11 before Ehrlich won 12-10 and 11-8. Maxell won games four and five by 11-8 and 11-4 scores. Will Campo beat Chris Bell in three and Amay Merchant stayed perfect for the week with a 3-0 win at eight. Peter Lynn closed out the match with a 3-2 win over David Moxley, coming from 2-0 down to win. Moxley won the first two games 12-10 and 11-8 before Lynn rallied with 11-3, 11-4 and 11-0 games for the match. Thoma Kraft beat Brett Feldman 11-7, 11-7 and 11-8 in the exhibition at ten.
