The St. Lawrence men's soccer program celebrated another successful season, and the last under Head Coach Bob Durocher, at their annual awards banquet earlier this spring. The Saints, who captured both the Liberty League regular season and tournament titles for the second straight year and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament, named senior Mark Provost and junior Harry Copeland co-Most Valuable Players for 2014.

Provost, who captained the team as a senior, tallied a number of key goals for the Saints; including the game-winning strike in the Liberty League Championship game. He finished third on the team in scoring with four goals (three game winners) and six assists for 14 points. Provost, hailing from Toronto, Ontario, was named the Liberty League tournament MVP, was a second team All-Conference selection and received first team All-Region honors from the NSCAA. In addition to co-MVP honors, the team also awarded Provost the Bob Goodwin Most Consistent Player Award and one of three Coaches Awards this season.

Copeland was named First Team All-American for the second year in a row by D3Soccer.com and earned his first All-American nod from the NSCAA as a first team selection. As one of the region's most dominant defenders, the Dedham, Mass. native was also named the team's Defensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. Copeland established career highs offensively this season, finishing with eight goals and two assists for 18 points and earning the first multi-goal game of his career. He was tied for the team lead with four game-winning goals, while also leading the Saints in minutes played (1,867). Additionally, he was first-team All-Region, All-Conference and ECAC Upstate honoree.

The Dana Hollingsworth Offensive Player of the Year award went to sophomore Rob Brandell who more than doubled his offensive production from his rookie season; finishing with a team-high 20 points on eight goals and four assists. From Glen Ridge, New Jersey, Brandell was tied with Copeland for the team lead in game-winning goals with four, including a double overtime marker in the Liberty League semifinals that led the Saints past Hobart and into the championship match. He was a first team All-Region, All-Conference and ECAC Upstate honoree, as well as a Liberty League Tournament and Lotto Classic Tournament team member.

First-year player Chandler Short was named the Saints' Rookie of the Year following a breakout debut season in the Scarlet and Brown. The San Diego, California native scored four goals and assisted on three others for 11 points. A Liberty League honorable mention selection, Short finished with three game-winning goals, earned conference Rookie of the Week honors in September and was a contender for the conference Rookie of the Year award.

Christian Yarros, who was one of team's most-improved players a season ago and integral component of the Saints defensive unit, joined Provost as a recipient of the Bob Goodwin Most Consistent Player Award for 2014. A trustworthy defender from Adamstown, Maryland, Yarros served as the team's last line of defense on offensive set pieces, he made 19 starts and set up the game-winning goal in the 88th minute of a dramatic regular season finale against Clarkson.

The Most Improved Player Award went to sophomore Ross Suitor, who stepped into a regular role at back for a portion of the season with veteran starters out with injuries. Suitor doubled his appearances from his rookie season, playing in 19 games, and tallied his first career goal to lift the Saints to a 2-1 overtime win over SUNY Geneseo in September. The Youngstown, New York native also recorded an assist to finish the season with three points.

For the third consecutive season the players selected senior Austin Roney, from Fayetteville, New York, as the recipient of the Robby Van Etten Ultimate Teammate award, recognizing his contributions to the team both on and off the field. A steady outside back, Roney was also given a Coaches Award this season. He started all 21 games and recorded two goals and three assists for seven points.

Fellow senior Jamal Samaroo was also a recipient of a Coaches Award this season. A talented forward from Brooklyn, New York, with impressive speed and foot skills, Samaroo played in 17 games up front for the Saints as a senior, starting 15. His lone goal of the year came in the team's regular season finale against Clarkson.
