Saints men's rowing team compete at Head of the Fish

The St. Lawrence University men's rowing team competed at the 2013 Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga, NY on Saturday, October 26, the final event of the team's fall schedule.

"I think that these races in the fall have given our younger guys a chance to compete and for us to see where we are heading towards our 2014 season," said St. Lawrence head coach George Repicky.

The Saints entered two boats in the collegiate 8+ race, finishing 20th and 23rd, respectively. The "A" boat, which raced in 13:02.90, included Travis Galowski, Alec Durkin, Palchen Wangchuk, Jack Riordan, Dan Tobin, Steve Grow, Casimir Misiewicz, Michael Brewer and coxswain Lauren Ward. The "B" boat followed in 13:11.70, was coxed by Shelby Hang and was comprised of Francis Stripp, Evan Pierce, Drew Twitchell, Kyle Benzing, Andy Caswell, Chester Hojnicki, Phil Hodosy and Justin Dalaba.

The men's novice 8+ was 16th in its race with a time of 14:19.31, finishing ahead of UConn, Tufts and Middlebury. The boat included Michael Bauman, Erik Werner, Sean Gannon, Alex Hewko, Tim LaBrie, Gunnar Ohlson, Dylan Hemsted, Karl Strahl and was coxed by Christina Robichaud.

St. Lawrence also entered a pair of crews in the varsity 4+ race, finishing 22nd and 27th overall. The first St. Lawrence team to the finish was timed in 14:38.97 and included Wangchuk, Riordan, Tobin, Grow and Ward. The second crew finished in 14:59.22 and was comprised of Stripp, Pierce, Hodosy, Dalaba and Hang.

The Saints will begin their indoor training in the coming weeks, and are slated to return to the water on March 29, 2014 in a dual-race with St. John Fisher in Rochester, NY.
