The St. Lawrence University Men's Lacrosse team will host New England College Wednesday afternoon in a first round game in the 2016 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament on North Country Field at Hall-Leet Stadium in Canton.

"It's been a long 48-hours (since losing the Liberty League semifinal game to RPI) and we feel like we have a new lease on our lacrosse lives," said Head Coach Mike Mahoney. "We felt our body of work put us in a good position, but until you see your name in the bracket, there is never a guarantee. We are excited to represent St. Lawrence in the national tournament again."

The Saints (15-2), ranked No. 4 in last week's USILA/Nike national poll, will face New England College (13-6) who won the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship beating Castleton in the title game. Tickets will be available at the entrance to Hall-Leet Stadium with ticket prices of $5 for adults and $3 for students, senior citizens and children.

St. Lawrence did not play New England College but did defeat Castleton 22-3 early in the season. The Pilgrims also dropped a 15-12 game to Salve Regina to start the season while the Saints beat Salve Regina 15-4 as part of the Spring Training trip to Florida.

The winner of Wednesday's game will face the winner of Middlebury (12-6) and Springfield (11-7) Saturday afternoon. The Panthers and the Pride play Wednesday at Middlebury.

For the Saints, it is the first trip to the NCAA Tournament since 2009 when St. Lawrence earned the automatic bid winning the Liberty League title and defeated Nazareth in the first round before falling to Middlebury in the second round.

The 32-team tournament will culminate with tournament semifinal games May 22 and the Division III Championship game on May 29 played at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
