Senior Michael Ederer scored his first of the season for the St. Lawrence University men's hockey team on Saturday night, but it was all Wisconsin from start to finish as the No. 15/13 Badgers posted a 7-1 win in Appleton Arena to salvage a split of their North Country road trip.

The Saints also finish with a weekend split after defeating Holy Cross on Friday night and is now 1-3-0 on the year, while Wisconsin improves to 3-1-0.

The Badgers outshot the Saints 46-21 in the game and finished it off with four goals in the third period, including three on the power play.

Wisconsin led 1-0 after the first period after Roman Ahcan put a wrister through traffic from the left circle that snuck inside the near post on Saints' starter Arthur Brey at the 6:56 mark.

The visitors added a pair of goals in the second period to take a 3-0 lead. The first came off the stick of Wyatt Kalynuk and the second was Sean Dhooghe's first of two on the evening, as he followed up a rebound off a breakaway save by Brey to tuck the puck under the pads on the far post.

Brey made two consecutive breakaway saves in a span of less than a minute before Dhooghe extended the Badgers' lead, but was pulled following the third goal and was replaced by junior Daniel Mannella who made his season debut for St. Lawrence.

Wisconsin notched its first of four in the third period at the 4:03 mark when Seamus Malone finished off a rush with a quick redirect on the far post with Mannella moving left to right to make it a 4-0 game.

Just 27 seconds later, Ederer was able to spoil Daniel Lebedeff's shutout bid in his Wisconsin debut with his first of the season.

Sophomore defenseman Cameron White chipped a short pass to Zach Risteau in the neutral zone to send St. Lawrence on the rush and Risteau hit Ederer streaking down the right wing side for a wrister that beat Lebedeff over his right shoulder to cut the deficit to 4-1.

The Badgers, however, added three in the final 10 minutes; taking advantage of four minor penalties to the Saints during that stretch with two more power play tallies.

Wisconsin went 3-for-8 on the power play on Saturday night, while the Saints finished 0-for-4.

Brey finished with 21 saves through just over 30 minutes played and Mannella recorded 18 stops of his own in 29:25 of work between the pipes.

Lebedeff made 20 stops for the Badgers in the win.

St. Lawrence will continue its non-conference schedule with a two-game set at the University of Michigan next weekend.
