Saints men's cross country finish second at Liberty League Championships

The St. Lawrence University men's cross country team saw a run of 21 straight league championships end on Saturday afternoon, as Rensselaer placed four runners in the top-five to claim the Liberty League title on Saturday afternoon in Geneva, N.Y.

Thomas Caulfield led the Saints with a third-place finish, covering the eight-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 33.3 seconds, averaging 5:09 per mile. Rensselaer's Benjamin Fazio won the race in 25:22.5.

Benjamin Fishbein was ninth for the Saints in 26:06.8, Sidi Abdoulaye was 14th in 26:20.8, Joe Smith was 18th in 26:25.0, and Patrick Mortensen was 20th in 26:26.3.

Rensselaer had 22 points, while the Saints had 62 points.

St. Lawrence will take one more opportunity to race before the NCAA Atlantic Regional at next Wednesday's SLU Twilight race.
