Saints men's crew earns three Wwns over Dutchmen

The St. Lawrence University men's crew team earned three wins on Sunday afternoon on the Mohawk River, sweeping Union College in dual-races on the 2000m course.

St. Lawrence's varsity 8+ was able to hold off Union by a mere .8 seconds in a light headwind thanks to a time of 7:10.7. The 2nd varsity 8+ also faced the headwind, but rowed to a sound :21 second win over the Dutchmen in 7:31.0. The novice 8+ made it a sweep with a time of 8:04.0, well ahead of Union's boat in 8:33.0.

The varsity 8+ included Travis Galowski, Francis Stripp, Ted Marr, Jack Riordan, Michael Brewer, Sam Pratt, Talon Lomahquahu, Kyle Benzing and coxswain Audrey Strasenbourgh. The 2nd varsity was comprised of Chester Hojnicki, Tom Joyce, Steve Grow, Drew Twitchell, Andy Caswell, Dan Tobin, Michael Lynskey, Justin Dalaba and coxswain Shelby Hang. Lauren Ward was coxswain in the victorious novice boat, which also included Hojnicki, Pratt, Grow, Riordan, Marr, Lyskey, Dalaba and Tobin.

The St. Lawrence men's and women's crew teams will compete again next Sunday, April 28 in the 2013 Liberty League Championships in Saratoga, NY.
