The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team gave Skidmore College all it could handle on Friday evening in the Burkman Gymnasium, as the Saints had two shots at the end of regulation to win the game. However, the visitors forced overtime and a pair of big threes from Isaac Carp sent the Thoroughbreds to a 72-67 conference win.

The victory moves Skidmore to the top of the league standings at 13-2 (16-7 overall), while St. Lawrence (13-12, 7-9) is eliminated from postseason play due to the loss and an RIT victory over Union.

Senior captain Brady Condlin, who was honored prior to the game as part of "Senior Night" in his last home game, had 17 points, four rebounds and four steals for the home team. Kyle Edwards had a team-high 18 points and added eight boards, while Leondre Simmon closed with a game high nine rebounds. Skidmore had four players score in double-figures, including Royce Paris' team-high 16 points.

St. Lawrence came out firing in the first half, knocking down several threes to open up an early 16-3 lead. The Saints, who held an 18-point advantage against Skidmore in the previous meeting in Saratoga Springs, hung on to the lead for the entire half thanks to 11 points from Edwards, and went to the locker room up four at the break, 33-29.

A three from Condlin and free throws from Edwards pushed the lead back to 10 at 44-34 early in the second half, but an and-1 by Aldin Medunjanin midway through the period pulled Skidmore back to within one, 50-49. That play swung the momentum to the visitors, who rattled off a 13-1 run to go up 56-51 with 8:54 to play. The teams battled back and forth throughout the remaining time, and Edwards tied the score at 60-60 with 2:41 left thanks to 1-of-2 at the free throw line.

Both teams dug in defensively, and didn't allow a single basket the remaining portion of regulation. Riley Naclerio stole the ball from Skidmore under the basket, and though he suffered an injury that forced him from the game, St. Lawrence had the final chances. Unfortunately, Condlin's bid missed, and despite an offensive board by Kaled Baison, a jumper by Willie Zachery caught the rim and the putback from Faison missed as well, forcing the overtime session.

Trailing by two early in the overtime, Carp, who was 2-for-9 from three in regulation, came up with the big baskets for Skidmore, as he delivered back-to-back threes for a four-point cushion. Kyle Kobis' triple with 1:57 to play sparked the crowd and his team, pulling the Saints to within one at 68-67. After a miss by the visitors, Condlin had back-to-back chances to give his team the lead in the final minute but couldn't land the key bucket. Connor Merrill's free throws gave Skidmore a 70-67 lead, and though Edwards got a good look at the tying three, it hit the rim and allowed Skidmore to close out the come-from-behind 72-67 win.

Condlin was subbed out with one second remaining in the game and received a standing ovation from the crowd as he left the court for the final time as a member of the Saints.

Skidmore will face Clarkson in the regular season finale on Sunday in Saratoga Springs, NY with seeding yet to be determined in the upcoming conference tournament.
