The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team was defeated by Ithaca College, 64-56, on Saturday evening in Ben Light Gymnasium. The Saints fall to 2-5 on the season and will be back in action in 2014, hosting SUNY Canton on Jan. 4 in the Burkman Gymnasium.
Brady Condlin led St. Lawrence with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Kyle Kobis added 12 points and six assists. David Hampton had nine point on 3-for-6 shooting from behind the arc, and Kyle Edwards chipped in seven points and six rebounds. Janpeter Brase had a team-high eight rebounds.
Frank Mitchell scored 18 points to lead Ithaca (2-5), which held a 33-29 advantage at the half. The Saints chipped away and took a 38-37 lead in the second half on a three-pointer from David Hampton. After two lead changes in the following three minutes, Joey Ross hit a three-pointer to help Ithaca regain the lead, 42-40, with just under 12 minutes left, which they would not relinquish.
Ithaca shot 40 percent from the floor en route to the win, while St. Lawrence shot 36 percent. The Saints continued to struggle from the free throw line, shooting 46 percent, making 7-of-15.
