Freshman Jack Martin led from the opening gun and was the individual winner as St. Lawrence University's men's cross country "B" squad topped a field which included SUNY Canton and individual runners from Clarkson on a soggy 8,000 meter Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Course at SLU Wednesday afternoon.
Martin ran 27:55.15 to lead a 17-runner field and paced a pack of five Saint runners across the finish line. Evan Garvey was second in 28:06.47 followed by Devon Calvin in 28:37.89, Alex MacRory in 29:12.47 and Tyler Baldino in 29:26.73.
Michael Feeney finished sixth for Clarkson while Ellis Toll was seventh and Daniel Driscoll eighth for the Saints. Nick Peltier was ninth for Clarkson with Fletcher Starnes and Joshua Ringer completing the Saint lineup in 10th and 11th. Thomas Lauzon led Canton with a 13th place finish.
