Six St. Lawrence University student-athletes and a crew boat were honored by the Liberty League Monday afternoon for their performances during the last week.

The Saints football team had an outstanding weekend as they traveled to Union on Saturday, coming away with an exciting 23-14 win against the Dutchmen. Junior Brendan McCarthy earned "Co-Defensive Performer of the Week" honors as he made two key interceptions and chipped in seven tackles including 1.5 for a loss in the victory.

First-year student Brayden Henry earned "Co-Rookie of the Week" as he was phenomenal along the offensive line against Union on Saturday. The Greenwich, CT native helped the Saints post 321 yards of offense against the Dutchmen, while owning the time of possession (34:53) and third down conversion (8-of-14) battles.

The win was St. Lawrence's first in Schenectady since 1969 and places the Scarlet and Brown at the top of the Liberty League with a 3-0 record.

The Saints men's soccer team went 2-0-1 over the course of the week, defeating St. John Fisher and Union, and playing to a 1-1 draw against Ithaca College. Junior forward Brendan Gorman earned "Offensive Performer of the Week" as he scored four goals in three games. The Ottawa, Ontario native contributed the game winning goals in both the 3-1 win over St. John Fisher and the 2-1 win in overtime at Union. He also had the tying goal in 1-1 tie against Ithaca College.

First-year student Andrew Bednarsky earned "Co-Rookie of the Week" honors as he had an assist on the game winning goal in a 3-1 win over St. John Fisher and helped the Saints to a 2-0-1 week with outstanding defensive play and passing from the midfield.

On the women's side, Elena Rogers earned "Co-Offensive Performer of the Week" honors as she helped spark the Saints to a pair of wins on the soccer field this week. The Naugatuck, CT native had an assist on the game-winner in a 2-1 win over Oswego and had a goal and again set up the game winner in a 2-1 win over rival Clarkson.

The Saints crew teams traveled to Rochester, NY to take part in the Head of the Genesee race on Saturday. The women's 1V was named "Co-boat of the Week" as it posted an impressive showing with a third overall finish, second among Division III schools. The eight recorded a time of 18:11.16 in the 5k head race and 5:00.16 in the 1500 meter sprint, earning an overall time of 33:41.64.

The 1V was stroked by senior Elizabeth Stokes-Cawley, while classmate Lauren Reed was the coxswain. Also rowing in the boat for St. Lawrence was senior Catie Lepage and sophomores Maggie Fellows, Maddie Fones, Britton Weber, Alissa McCaffrey, Kaitlin Summers and Jesse Burdett.

Finally, the women's tennis team traveled to Ithaca, NY to battle in the 2010 NYS Championships. They defeated Alfred University 8-1 in the quarterfinals and the #3 seeded RIT 8-3 in the championship match. Drewry, a Pennington, NJ native, also reached the semifinals of the 2nd Singles Flight as she beat Hartwick College 6-1, 7-5 in the first round and NYU 6-4, 7-6(4) in the quarterfinals before falling to the #1 seed and eventual champion University of Rochester final semifinals.
