Jack Whelan shot a one-over par 72 and is tied for second overall after day one of the NYU-Manhattanville Golf Invitational.
Whelan shot 37-35 for his 72 and is one stroke behind Grant Raffel of Williams, the only player to match par on day one.
The Saints are sixth as a team in the 12-team field and had a 311 day one total. Williams leads at 294 with Middlebury second, Rochester third, Skidmore fourth and RPI fifth. The Saints are four strokes behind RPI.
The rest of the Saint team shot within two strokes of each other on day one as Jake Danforth is tied for 30th at 79 with Brandon Lustig and Brady Garrett tied for 38th at 80 and Jack Reardon tied for 44th at 81.
