The St. Lawrence University riding team turned in two reserve high-point team performances over the weekend, finishing second at shows at SUNY Geneseo and at Cazenovia. The Saints were three points behind Cazenovia at Geneseo on Saturday, and were four points behind the host Wildcats on Sunday.
St. Lawrence won six blue ribbons on Saturday, scoring 36 points. Julia Robinson led the Scarlet and Brown with wins in both the novice fences and novice flat. Lily Barnard and Caitlin Doocy also added novice flat wins, while Emma Levy won her group in advanced walk-trot-canter, and Madeline Coakley won in walk-trot.
Merle Beach (intermediate fences), Isabella DiNicola (intermediate flat) and Corey Rost (advanced walk-trot-canter) had second-place finishes on Saturday for the Saints.
On Sunday, Amanda Gellis got the Saints started with a win in open fences, and Beach kept the momentum going with a win in intermediate fences. Coakley won at walk-trot for the fourth consecutive show, and Robinson won at novice flat for the second time on the weekend. Casey Jones added a win at beginner walk-trot-canter.
DiNicola (intermediate flat), Emily Crabtree (novice fences) and Maddie Hogan (novice flat) had second-place showings for the Saints.
The Saints, who were four points behind host Cazenovia on Sunday, now sit in second place in the region, 12 points behind the Wildcats.
The Scarlet and Brown have this weekend off, then close the fall with a pair of home shows at Elsa Gunnison Appleton Riding Hall on Nov. 19-20.
