The St. Lawrence University Football team finished its non-conference portion of the schedule with a 34-9 win over Endicott College and starts the Liberty League schedule this weekend with a trip to Schenectady and Frank Baily Field to play Union College. The Saints enter with a 2-1 record with wins over Norwich and Endicott while the Dutchmen are winless at 0-3 losing to Ithaca, Western Connecticut State and Western New England University.
Union returns home after two consecutive road games with trips to Connecticut and Massachusetts. The Dutchmen started the season at home and dropped a 38-23 decision to Ithaca. Union leads the overall series 35-18-5 with St. Lawrence winning the last two matchups. In 2013, the Saints won a 30-20 game. The turning point in that contest was a Connor O'Brien blocked field goal attempt returned for an 84-yard TD in the third quarter tying the game at 20-20. The Saints scored one play into the fourth quarter on a 25-yard TD run by Maurice Irby to take a 27-20 lead as the defense held Union scoreless in the second half for the win.
