Samantha Habb and Carly Dziekan each scored their first collegiate goals in the first half and St. Lawrence University's field hockey team snapped a three-game skid with a 3-0 victory over Manhattanville at William Smith on Sunday.

The Saints improve to 2-5 on the season heading into the start of league play against Skidmore on Sept. 28 on North Country Field.

Habb, a sophomore, opened the scoring 15:24 into play as she took a pass from classmate Lizzy Saward from the top center of the arc and slid a shot past Manhattanville goalie Amy Hilton on the left side. Dziekan, a rookie, scored her first collegiate goal at 31:33 as she put away a rebound from right in front of the goal.

Senior Emma Berry completed the scoring with her first goal of the year with 3:34 to play, scoring on a rebound following a penalty corner.

Saint senior goaltender Nicole Matos made two saves for her first shutout of the season while Hilton made five saves on eight Saint shots.

SLU had a 11-6 overall edge in shots on goal with an 8-2 lead in shots on goal. Manhattanville , now 5-4, had 12 penalty corners to six for the Saints, but was thwarted by the Saint defense in its efforts to score.
