St. Lawrence University's 2013 field hockey team will begin preparations for the fall season a little early as it heads for Cape Town, South Africa for a week-long excursion combining field hockey, touring and a community service project.
The Saints will depart July 29, arriving in Cape Town on July 30. They will begin their training on July 31 and will also have an excursion to Robben Island. They will have a safari on Buffelsfontein Game and Nature Reserve on August 1, prior to their first game of the tour, playing the club team from Fairmont.
The team will spend Friday working with the Mellon Housing Initiative in Masipumelele and will have a full day Cape Point excursion on Saturday. Game two of the tour will take place on Sunday against Old Mutual Ladies First Team and the final game, following an excursion of Fisantekrall Informal Settlement will be against the University of Cape Town on August 5.
