The St. Lawrence University men's basketball team suffered an 88-69 loss to Plattsburgh State on Tuesday night in Plattsburgh, NY.
The Saints, now 1-2 on the season, had 15 point performances from junior captain Brady Condlin and first-year student Kyle Kobis, but were done in by 23 turnovers in the contest.
Plattsburgh, meanwhile, took advantage of the Saints' mishaps to score 32 points off turnovers in the contest en route to the win to improve to 2-1. John Perez had a game-high 19 points and 14 rebounds.
First-year student Kyle Edwards had 11 points for the Saints, while Payton Stahler added nine points and five rebounds. Senior Janpeter Brase tallied 11 rebounds and eight points, while classmate Al Jones added eight points.
St Lawrence led early in the game, building its largest lead at the 13:34 with the score at 10-7 on a jumper from first-year student Kyle Edwards. A three-pointer from Edward Correa, however, tied the game for Plattsburgh and the Cardinals proceeded to take a 40-35 lead at the half.
Correa hit another three in Plattsburgh's first possession of the second half to give his team an eight point lead (43-35) before the Condlin and Brase scored a couple quick baskets to get the Saints back to within three points (45-42) with 17:40 left.
That was the closest the Saints would come, however, as the Cardinals steadily built a larger lead throughout the remainder of the second half en route to the 82-69 win.
St. Lawrence will host Oswego State and Brockport State this weekend in the Burkman Gymnasium. The Saints will square off with the Lakers on Friday night at 7pm.
