The St. Lawrence University men's soccer team out shot Union 29-9, but the game ended in a 0-0 stalemate after a double-overtime battle Saturday afternoon at Sandy MacAllaster Field.

Junior captain Brendan McNamee led the Saints with five shots on goal, including one in the 105th minute of play. Charlton Kelly recorded the other three shots on goal, as the Saints held an 8-3 shots on goal advantage.

Overall, McNamee totaled a season-high 11 shots for the Saints. Tapshak Augustine, Ryan Roche, Kelly and McNamee helped create numerous opportunities for St. Lawrence late in the second half and during both overtime periods.

"I'm very proud of the team today and their fighting spirit," said head coach Mike Toshack. "Everyone contributed well today, especially with some of our veteran players missing and others out with injuries, our young players helped a lot to get us our first Liberty League point of the season."

Lopez Salvador Jr., Chris Muther and Omar Al-Homsi each contributed a shot on goal for the Dutchmen. Saints' goalkeeper Mike Smith finished the game with three saves, while John Weitzman recorded eight for the Dutchmen. Both goalkeepers played all 110 minutes in their respective nets.

With the tie, the Saints moved to 2-4-2 on the season and 0-0-1 in Liberty League play, while Union is handed their first tie for 6-1-1 and 0-0-1.

St. Lawrence will travel to Clarkson on Tuesday, Sept. 26th to face off against the Golden Knights in a Route 11 rivalry at 7 p.m.
