The St. Lawrence University softball team recorded 16 hits, five of which were for extra bases, en route to a 12-0 victory over SUNY Canton on Friday evening. The Saints, led by senior pitcher Elizabeth McGinley's one-hit performance on the mound, improves to 17-13 on the season, while the Kangaroos fall to 13-20 overall. St. Lawrence will host SUNY Canton in a doubleheader tomorrow afternoon as the Saints celebrate "Senior Day".

McGinley improved to 9-6 on the mound as she allowed just one hit, a single from Tina DeLuca, while striking out 10 and walking none. The Canastota, NY native added two hits, two RBIs and a run offensively, and had plenty of help. Lauren Weisbarth and Aisha O'Connor both had three hits apiece on the day, while Cailyn Welsh, Caroline Kieltyka and Chelsea Cavellier added two each.

St. Lawrence led 3-0 after two innings before taking a commanding 10-0 lead in the third inning on six hits and four SUNY Canton errors. In the top of the fourth, St. Lawrence pushed its lead to 12-0 on four hits and two errors.

Canton's lone hit of the game came in the bottom of the fourth as DeLuca hit a single to shallow centerfield. McGinley recovered with a strikeout to end the inning, and then struck out the side in the fifth to end the game.
