Gilford, NH - Freshman Sean Donohue (Bolton Landing, NY) finished in second place in the slalom to lead the Clarkson University Alpine Ski team on day-one of the UConn Invitational held Friday afternoon at Gunstock Mountain.

The Golden Knights' men took third place among the 12 complete teams at the event, while the women came in fourth out of 11 teams. Clarkson will compete in Andover, NH tomorrow to complete the two-day race.

Donohue highlighted Clarkson's skiers with a second-place finish in 1:29.65, and sophomore Alex Slemp (Clifton Park, NY) came in sixth with a time of 1:30.18. Rounding out the scoring was freshman Austin Florian (Southington, CT), who placed 21st in a time of 1:32.14. The Knights were unfortunate in only three of their five skiers were able to finish both runs, as junior Christian Perryman (West Lebanon, NH) did not finish his first run and freshman Christian Avery (Lyme, NH) stumbled in his second run after coming in 31st during the first time down the mountain.

On the women's side, freshman Kelly Rowland (West Windsor, NJ) was the top performer, taking 13th with a time of 1:35.86. Classmate Taylor Manderson (Ballston Spa, NY) was a few seconds behind in 21st place in 1:38.44. Junior Sarah Shafer (Petoskey, MI) placed one spot behind Manderson in 1:38.77. Sophomore Mycala Stebbins (Canandaigua, NY) was outside the scorers for Clarkson, placing 34th, while freshman Ashley Yoviene (Boston, NY) was unable to finish her runs.
