The St. Lawrence University alpine ski teams raced in the giant slalom on Saturday at the 2013 Middlebury Carnival at the Middlebury Snowbowl. The Saints were led by senior Ashley-Kate Durham in 21st place, while junior Ben DeFlavio's 22nd place showing led the men's team to seventh in the team standings.

Durham finished with a combined time of 2:13.94 for 21st position in the women's race. She was joined in the scoring by Ann West and Maria Hillenbrand in 30th and 44th, respectively. The trio's total of 43.0 was good for 10th in the standings.

Ciar Colgan (45th) and Allison Visconti (DNF) also competed for the Scarlet and Brown.

Meanwhile, a pair of DNF's by Graham Scott and Jeremy Lawless left the scoring to DeFlavio, Ben Martin and Nick Stenicka. DeFlavio clocked in with a time of 2:05.70 for his 22nd place finish, while Martin and Stenicka closed in 28th and 33rd, respectively. The team finished with 58.0 points, only 16.0 out of fourth overall.

Randa Teschner of the University of New Hampshire picked up the victory in the women's GS and led the Wildcats to the team title as well. On the men's side, UVM's Jonathan Nordbotten also paced his team to victory, as the Catamounts held off Middlebury.

The St. Lawrence University alpine ski teams will be in action again tomorrow in a make-up slalom race of the 2013 Dartmouth Carnival.
